DHASOL Events

This year’s DHASOL BBQ was a great success as usual and attended by approximately 900 people of all ages. The weather on the day was brilliant with lots of sunshine and at times very hot! The heat did not stop the crowd having fun and many people brought their own tents and gazebos.

The food was non-stop and prepared by our volunteers who worked tirelessly in the main marquee. There was a selection of choices ranging from chilli bhajiyas, maru’s bhajias, tasty mogo masala with crisps, healthy Bhel, potato chips, papdi no lot, popcorn, roasted corn on the cob, haka noodles and lots of chutney. The non-veg section also offered a delicious selection of chicken kebabs, chicken tikka, pitta bread, chutney and salad.

The queues for food were non-stop as people kept coming back for more and more! Vagarali Kitchdi and Chas were served as the main which was followed by ice cold Faludoo which was welcomed by everyone.

The children and adults alike enjoyed the Bouncy castles and trampoline. They also enjoyed musical chairs, tug of war and a few other games. The highlight of the afternoon was the free Bollywood dance lessons that were enjoyed by the children as well as the adults! DHASOL had our own version of the famous Kajarare dance number – see the photo in our gallery!! There were many stalls on the ground selling Indian clothes, jewellery, pan, fire safety stall, etc.

We also had a visit from two fire brigade engines which were very appreciated by the children.

There was background music to entertain the crowd. It was great opportunity for people to socialise with family and friends and for the children to play in a safe environment.

The B4U camera team came along to sample DHASOL’s BBQ and to talk to people who were enjoying themselves. So be prepared you may appear on your TV screen soon!!

As usual all the volunteers worked together and after a long hot day, we were on our way home around 10.00pm!

Once again this day would not have been successful without the help of volunteers, committee members and their families and of course all those who attended the event. DHASOL would like to thank everyone for all their help and support for this event and we look forward to seeing you again at our BBQ in 2011!
