40th anniversary & Diwali gathering held on 19 October 2008 at Copland Specialist Science Community College. Guests were welcomed by committee members from 2-4pm and the ladies were presented with a gift while the children were given bundles of sweets. Refreshments were served and the guests were able to mingle and catch up with each other.

The gathering was started with a one minute silence for all those people who have passed away over the last year. This was followed by a prayer by Gautam Dabir and Kedar Mukadam.

The guests were then welcomed by the Secretary – Tarlikaben, which was followed by a dance item. Then followed a series of award presentations with intermittent speeches and entertainment items, which was meticulously organised by Anushka and Pravinaben. The awards were presented to relatives of deceased committee members  and trustees, past committee members and Trustees and youth committee members: past and present. These awards were presented as a token of appreciation to the hard work and commitment shown by the recipients. Bhupendrabhai led a walk through the history of DHASOL which was translated in English by Kunal who is one of the youth committee members.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances the Ruby Anniversary Brochure and Directory was not available on the day but due to technology we could display it electronically on a screen. The Brochure was dedicated and presented to Kanubhai C Patel (Trustee) by Mukundbhai (President) and Manharbhai (Chief Executive). Kanubhai has shown great dedication and support to DHASOL over the years.

Mukundbhai gave the closing speech where he thanked everyone for their support and he detailed some of the contributions made by individuals over the 40 years. Mukundbhai and Bhupendrabhai then presented a special gift to the women volunteers who have supported DHASOL as well as the current women committee members.

Finally, the raffle was drawn which included six fantastic prizes ranging from fashion necklace, cash, wrist watch and the first prize of a gold set.

A buffet dinner was served where the guests had more time to catch up with family and friends.
